Day 116 of 365
“Monday”
This day gets a huge amount of bad press. No one seems to look forward to Mondays. Usually it begins a work week and none of us really feel like getting out of our warm beds to go to work. The children know that this day will bring less TV, no video games and being reminded of the early bedtime for the next few nights.
Now that I no longer work outside of the home, Monday means different things to me. I know that I have to be sure to give lunch money and that all of the backpacks make it to the truck. There is driving to be done. Charles’ lunch to be prepared. Loads of laundry. Trash to be gathered for tomorrow. You know all of the interesting things you get to do.
In light of all of the things that need to be done, I decided to add many more items to my list on Monday. Why? So that the rest of the week can be used for rest and play. I pack many things on the day and by the time I lay my head to rest there is very little to do for the next four days.
I will eventually trim the activities I have on Monday, however, since I tend to procrastinate, I will have to ask the Lord to give me a plan on how to get things done in a timely manner and not pack one day so heavily. This actually began when gas was inching toward $4 a few years ago. Running around while still out was a way of life in an attempt to conserve gas. Gas is creeping again.
During the summer it will be less difficult. Then it will be items like swimming, biking, hiking, fishing and other activities of that nature. Someone has to get it done, I may as well.
So be kinder to Monday, it has to come so that we will make it to Friday night.
