“W.I.N.”
I was reading through some notes Charles had taken during a business meeting years ago. It is amazing when the Lord takes you back to something you were told years ago and now it makes even more sense.
The sentence was “We should learn W.I.N.” The acronym means What’s Important Next. That hit me like a brick wall. Several times we have to make decisions about how we will react to something and the basis for that decision could be: What’s Important Next?
Scenario: I am mad at my husband and I don’t want to talk to him. W.I.N.
Scenario: I am a child at school and someone has been talking about me. W.I.N.
Scenario: My mother just mad me so mad I want to run away. W.I.N.
#1 Keep the lines of communication open. This “good mad” you are working up cannot compare to the love and joy you can share once you resolve the situation. The sooner the better.
#2 Is what they are saying true? If not then move on. You do not have to take any of those people home with you. While they are talking about you, keep doing your work, you may end up being their boss. Success is the best answer.
#3 Run to where? It is perhaps safer at your mom’s home. Keep the lines of communication open. You only have to be there until you are 18 then you can make your own decisions. Perhaps then you will realize your mom was doing what she thought was best for what she knew about your situation.
I know these suggestions seem unrealistic; perhaps they are, in most of our lives. At some point there has to be an alternative to what we are doing if it is not working. So these are just ideas. Please use them to prompt you to develop better ideas to fit your lifestyle.
The point is, instead of just reacting, take a moment and think: What’s Important Next?
