Charles-isms
Self Serving Thoughtfulness can amplify perceived inadequacies or
inequalities in others. Be thoughtful for thoughtfulness sake, not for reward,
appreciation or reciprocation.
These economic times are causing several issues with marriages and families.
To help circumvent the challenges in a Christian way let me suggest just a few observations and ideas.
Number 1. Make the decision that this is a marriage covenanted by God and you must fight for it. Marriage is not easy. Marriage takes compromise. Marriage is still a God idea.
Number 2. Decide what is important to your family. Do you need to focus on keeping your home? Is there debt you need to get rid of? Are the children in need of some of your time to resolve issues? Is a formulating a budget something that could move your family forward?
Number 3. Decide what your family’s goal is and write it down. Go to God’s Word and read Hab. 2:2,3. “Write the vision…”
Do not allow yourself to get “dissed.” What do I mean? Don’t become disillusioned, dysfunctional, discouraged or distressed (compliments of Charles Watkins). Now is the time for a cohesive front in the marriage.
We live, as Christians, by God’s economy through obedience, faith, commitment and work. Some Christians dig the channel of life with a spoon, perhaps you should choose to dig with a backhoe. The work we do as Christians carries a greater potential due to the fact that God said “He was with us” and we know that now He is in us.
Natural man manipulates while the supernatural man creates. (Charles) How do we move supernaturally? We do that through the Lord’s power being allowed to be used in you.
Consider these points:
1. You must decide for yourself what you really want out of life.
2. Get alone with God and His Word to be sure you are in order.
3. Write down every single dream, goal and desire that is important to you.
4. Choose the top three goals out of the long list that you would like to move toward.
5. God will send the people in your life that either is to help you or that you are to help. If you help them God is building you in that area for the tasks that may lay ahead for you.
Read Proverbs 14:8, Proverbs 16:9 and Luke 14:28-30.
Together these verses will give the basis for being wise, making plans and praying that God will direct us and beings sure that we count the cost to be sure we can finish the plan.
