John 5:2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.
The pool for us in this instance is the relationship that we have with our Savior. Do you feel His love, compassion, loving kindness and joy? Do you read His Word and pray? Do you meditate on His Word day and night? Do you follow His commandments? Do you say that as for me and my house we will serve the Lord?
Where is it that you go to hear a word from God? Do you fast in order to commune with God when you REALLY need to hear from Him? I suggest you go to your “pool” to hear from God. This will allow Him to trouble the waters that you have put before Him. It could be that all you want is a little bit more romance in your relationship. Perhaps your marriage needs to be immersed in the love of our Savior to enable it to be the testimony that God would have it to be.
We all have things we do to get God’s attention when we need Him to “show up and show out”. Go there. Do those things. People around you may think that you are crazy. Especially if they feel that you have a great relationship. I am saying that we need to be in constant prayer and communion for our marriage. Pray during the good times especially. It is during these times you can be growing and building your relationship in the Lord. There have been many times you had your own issues and were not strong enough for your friends that had questions about their relationship as it relates to God’s will. These are the times that you can call upon the knowledge you have of the saving grace of our Father and lead your friend to that calm assurance also.
This pool is also a place you and your spouse will find yourself during trying times. Those times in which you are convinced are instances that your marriage will never survive. The pool will be the place in which you can cry those consecrated tears for your marriage, children and family. We allow our tears to just flow anywhere and over anything. If you are a Christian and you believe you have received from the Lord then why not let those hard won tears flow into your pool to be consecrated by God.
