Day 1 of 365 "Begin Alive" |
|
"Being Alive"
Today I awoke and all of my family was alive and well. Blessing. Then I realized that I too was alive and well. Blessing. Then I realized that God did not have to do it but did. Blessing.

This is the last day of 2009. The end of one decade and the
beginning of another. I have been giving much thought to what should be said on
a day like today. So much has occurred. Technology has increased the speed of
knowledge and information. Wow what a decade!!

Watch Service Leading up to 2010 |
I can recall when I was younger my mother used to say that whatever you were doing on January 1 would be a reflection of what your year would be. So I took that to heart and made sure I could be found at a Watch Service at someone’s church. This has been a mainstay in my family’s life since our first son. So it has been the thing we do for the last 15 years.

2010 Resolution or Transformation? |
|
As I
thought about the end of 2009 and the beginning of 2010, I was reminded
that millions of us would be making resolutions. Resolutions normally
include items like: to lose weight, go back to school, talk to that
family member that has been cut from our communication circle or
perhaps even to read the Bible more. Each and every one of these items
is a noble cause...

I Tried to Change and Fooled Us All |
It is possible to change and move to a new environment
of operation if there is not a true transformation in ones mind set?
Often we attempt to change by stoping/starting an action or behavior.
The elimination or the addition of an action does not necessitate a
change of the heart. All actions are eventually influenced by the real
way one thinks. To unilaterally change, only, the behavior creates....

One thing I have come to realize about my marriage is that I
choose daily to be in it. There are no back doors, no side doors and no hidden
entry ways. So many married couples are not closing the doors, locking
them and then choosing daily to allow them to remain that way.
Once you have put these “exits” in their proper perspective

The Stones of My Past, Some Break Some Build, I Choose |
We must understand the stones of our past. However Good or Bad, we stand upon those experiences. So it is not a question of will you stand but how will you Stand? The past can become a trap, sabotaging relationships, wrecking emotions, and manipulating lives. Every past experience has the potential to propel, stay or destroy our present and future. We have the life opportunity to decide how we will...

A Transforming View of Women |
While watching Transformers 2, I was distributed by the differences
between the first and the sequel. There was a level of violence in the
first but the level of depicted death & violence was greater in the
sequel. There was an implied level of sensuality in the first but an
overt level of depicted sexuality in the sequel. The level of
profanity in the PG-13 sequel made me wonder what level of language 13
years olds are accustomed to hearing or, even more frighting, using.
The courage displayed by the heroin in the sequel was overshadowed by
the sexual commodity she was cast as. The movie is but an example of
the perceived respect and worth that women...

What a wonderful day for reflection. It is a day many of us
spend cooking, waiting for someone to finish cooking or eating whatever was
cooked. After a remarkable meal, we sit around as a family to talk or to play
games. Some may watch the game that is on for the day. It is truly a day for
families to get together to reflect and to perhaps even make plans for the next
year.
