Are you Reading?
This is a question I asked myself today. I realized that I was getting most of my information from the television. Now I do realize we are now in a very noisy, busy world and reading time is at a premium. However, we make time for things that mean something to us daily.
Of course we all read our Bibles on Sunday during the worship service we attend, but how often do you read it when you are not in this arena of your life. This is a similar sentiment expressed from the pulpit on many occassions. Why is it we do not take this admonishment to heart?
Could it be that by reading the Good News we may ascertain that we have not been abiding by the words, thoughts and commandments given to us? One of the most difficult things a child of God has to do could be to shine the light of internal observation toward ourselves. Revelation of what and where we truly are could be very difficult.
I would just suggest that each of us make reading the Bible a part of our Christian fiber. Make it as necessary to us as eating. As compelling a read as a great American novel. Something we cannot live without, like eating.
So take this awesome season of the resurrection of our Savior to embrace the Word that was given to us for direction, encouragemnt, reproof, love, joy and every other area of our lives that needs to be addressed.
